| Third vintage of luxurious beer released |

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth may have received hers hand-delivered back in June but Australian beer aficionados have had to wait until today to get their hands on the third vintage of the beer whose makers have labelled it Australia’s most luxurious.
First released in 2008, Crown Ambassador Reserve pioneered the luxury beer market in Australia and is one of the most expensive Australian beers ever brewed, retailing for $90 per 750ml bottle.
The first two vintages sold out within weeks with the third predicted to be as popular.
The 2010 vintage which the brewer says is the finest release yet has been made from fresh Galaxy hops, all hand-picked in Myrtleford on March 9 and added to the brew the very next day.
The final beer comes in at a rich 10.2 per cent alcohol. Only 7,000 individually numbered bottles have been brewed.
Bottle number 0001 was hand-delivered to Buckingham Palace and received by Her Majesty the Queen on the anniversary of her coronation on June 2.
Crown Ambassador Reserve Master Brewer, John Cozens and a small team of dedicated brewers spent five months nurturing this latest vintage, with each champagne-style bottle being filled and sealed by hand.
Cozens said the 2010 release retains many of the trademark qualities of the first two vintages, however unique to this year’s brew is the careful back blending of a small portion of the 2009 Reserve which had been aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
He said blending the two vintages, a technique typically reserved for champagne, will deliver a level of complexity in the beer similar to that of premium, barrel aged wines.
“Like some of the world’s best wines, particularly sparkling wines, we wanted to capture the heart and soul of a previous vintage in the 2010. Beyond providing quality lineage, we retain some of the 2009 brew’s consistency, which further increases the richness and depth of this year’s lager,” said Cozens.
“We are thrilled with the third vintage. Again, the signature Galaxy hop character is really dominant on the nose and notes of Christmas cake are evident on the palate. The addition of the 2009 Reserve portion has certainly added interesting oak flavours to the brew, making it a completely unique proposition and an exceptional beer to savour or cellar.”
